About us

University of West London provides training to healthcare professionals to care for our diabetes population in the hospital setting or at home.

The Diabetes Forum has been established to provide avenues to encourage discussion and explore issues pertaining to diabetes care in our community. The group aims to provide a forum for all stakeholders to play an active part in steering the direction of diabetes care within and around the university community.

Additionally, the forum will provide opportunities for both academics and healthcare practitioners to debate ways to mitigate ethnic disparities in diabetes care and among  other vulnerable groups with diabetes for example, people with mental health disorders or learning disabilities.

The goals

The UWL Diabetes Forum Steering Group will meet to:

  • Discuss opportunities to raise the profile of diabetes care and awareness of the medical condition in our society

  • Explore avenues to enhance the experience of people with diabetes in our society

  • Discuss and plan activities to raise awareness of diabetes e.g., public lectures, producing newsletters, organise workshops, conferences and other events

  • Develop avenue to build repository of online resources, conduct research, and educate people who are affected with the medical condition.

  • Work collaboratively to support professional development of healthcare workers, share best practice and provide opportunity for networking
